Raid-Safe Starter Ore Camp at Golden Hills

📐 Build steps

1. 1

   Fast travel to the Small Settlement and walk southwest up the grassy rise until you can see four or more ore nodes clustered together. Drop your Palbox on flat ground so its blue radius covers the ore, several trees, and at least two stone-spawn rocks.

   Lay a wooden foundation platform beside the Palbox for your crafting area. Keep it clear of the ore nodes themselves, since foundations placed over nodes stop them respawning. Snap foundations flush so Pals path smoothly without hopping ledges.

3. 3

   Place your core stations on the platform: primitive workbench, campfire, wooden chest row along one edge, a feed box near the middle, and two straw Pal beds per worker Pal you plan to assign. Leave a two-tile-wide walkway between stations so Pals never body-block each other.

4. 4

   Build a small sleeping hut on one corner of the platform with wooden walls, a doorway, a flat roof, and your own bed inside. Enclosing your bed raises your sanity recovery and keeps you safe during night raids while your Pals fight.

5. 5

   Ring the whole plateau edge with stone walls, leaving exactly one opening on the uphill approach and fitting it with a wooden gate. Raiders path to the gate, so every fight happens in one predictable spot you can cover from above.

   Assign a balanced starter crew: two mining Pals such as Cattiva or Depresso on the ore, one lumbering Pal like Lifmunk, one kindling Pal for the campfire, and one transporting Pal to haul drops into chests. Check the Palbox screen to confirm each job is actually staffed.

7. 7

   Drop two wooden chests directly beside the ore cluster as an overflow dump, and empty them into your main storage each session. Ore is heavy, so let transport Pals do the hauling rather than carrying it yourself.

8. 8

   When raids trigger, close the gate and let defenders engage at the choke point. Once you unlock them, upgrade the gate section to stone and add a berry plantation, mill, and cooking pot inside the walls so the base feeds itself while you explore.
